I have reminded of one of my professors, so I decided
to share his influence on me- through this writing. Also, I should tell that the
Book of Isaiah is one of my Most Favourite after Job!
Let us look at this scripture portion for today's Meaningful devotion but I suggest you please read the whole chapter before or after!
V14
But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.”
V15
"can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the
child she has borne? though she may forget, I will not forget you!
V16
see I have engraved you on the palms on my hands; your walls are ever before
me!
At
the best to capture the meaning for the Hebrew word – engraving, is sizzled
down (to cut in/burn up). By this understanding, we have been clear that the expression
is that, The Lord is saying I have cut in or burn up your name on my palm. Imagining
this I got goosebumps, yeah to illustrate this in our context, it’s like God as
a sculptor craving or welding our name on His palm with a sharp chisel or with a
blazing welding rod.
when
to go back into the idea of slave and slave master - it is the name of the
Master engraved-printed on the slave hand. in other words, to capture the
closest meaning "this slave is a property of the master’s name on his hand
engraved.
But
here in the scripture, we see it the other way around. your name (or the
picture) is on my palm. Says the Lord, Yes, we see the reversal of the order;
the point I am trying to make is
"God
values the slaves - we are the slaves and He is our master and the name of the
slave is on the hands of the master.
Today
to each of us God says, I never leave you nor forsakes you, you are always in
and on the palm. Signifying everything in Gods control yes, what a reminder for
us at times like this we may say like Zion - "Lord
you have forsaken me, the
Lord has forgotten me."
But
the Lord says I will never forget you, my child – "can a mother forget the
baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? though
she may forget, I will not forget you! (Metaphorical language)
see,
I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
And
that’s the promise of God; Even though we go through this Pandemic, Season of
Darkness, money drown month, a tough time during this year or maybe working
from home- Let us be reminded of the faithfulness of God for He never leaves us
and forsakes us.
He
is working from His House of heaven for us, He loves us as a mother. May the
Holy Paraclete empower us with more power, love, and self-discipline.
What
a beauty it is – you might get disturbed by what I said above that “We are
slaves in His hands and He is our Master.” Let me explain to you – this slavery
is not submission to a dominating influence but this is slavery of Love.
We
are bound by the slavery called Christ Love and His Life and He (God) engraved
us in his palms of His Love and that’s why He sent His only son; who engraved/put
on a crown of thorns and His hands and legs were nailed and He was crushed and
pierced for our transgressions yet rose again on the third day and promised us
of our resurrection and eternal life in Him.
Know us by writing back and don’t forget to comment.
God
Bless you!
